Learnings from vacation, curls and slow life

Learnings from Vacation, Curls, and Slow Life

In this episode, I share the unexpected and transformative lessons from my July 2024 vacation, which reshaped my approach to wellbeing in ways I never anticipated.

Embracing My Natural Curls

One of the most surprising discoveries during my trip to Bali was my hair. Who knew I had naturally curly hair? For years, I’ve been blow-drying and straightening it. But in Bali, with different electrical voltages, I couldn’t use my hair dryer.

This forced me to let my hair air dry. To my amazement, beautiful curls appeared! It’s not just about looks – it’s about embracing my natural self. Plus, it’s saving me so much time in my daily routine.

The Joy of Slow Living

Before this vacation, I thought I thrived on being busy. I believed productivity equaled happiness. How wrong I was! During my time off, I learned to appreciate a slower pace of life.

At first, doing nothing made me uncomfortable. But as the days passed, I began to enjoy:

– Taking regular naps
– Reading without time pressure
– Having no set agenda

This experience has made me rethink how I structure my days. I’m now planning to incorporate more unscheduled time into my routine.

Finding Balance: Purpose and Relaxation

While I loved the slower pace, I realized I still need goals and purpose. By the third week, I felt a bit lost without my usual objectives. This insight has led me to ponder: How can I maintain a sense of purpose while living a slower-paced life?

I’m working on finding this balance. It involves:

– Setting fewer, more meaningful goals
– Creating larger blocks of unscheduled time
– Saying no to activities that don’t truly fulfill me

The Importance of Regular Vacations

This experience has shown me the value of taking regular, extended breaks. I’ve already planned my next vacation for December. I’ll be taking three weeks off to relax and recharge.

Unexpected Health Insights

My time away also taught me some surprising things about my health. For instance, I discovered how crucial oatmeal is for my digestion. Without it, my digestive system struggled to function properly.

This realization has prompted me to pay closer attention to how different foods affect my body. I’m planning to share more about these nutritional insights in a future episode.

Rediscovering Red Lipstick

On a lighter note, I’ve fallen in love with red lipstick! Before my trip, I did a photo shoot where the makeup artist applied a long-lasting red lipstick. I was amazed by how it made me feel – confident, ambitious, and powerful.

I wore red lipstick several times during my vacation and loved the energy it gave me. Now, I’m on a mission to find the perfect long-lasting red lipstick for everyday wear.

Implementing Changes in My Daily Life

These vacation insights have inspired me to make some changes:

1. Embracing my natural curls
2. Scheduling larger blocks of unstructured time
3. Taking regular naps
4. Incorporating more oatmeal into my diet
5. Wearing red lipstick more often

I’m excited to see how these small changes will impact my overall well-being and productivity.

Remember, self-discovery is an ongoing process. I encourage you to take time for yourself, even if it’s just a few hours, to disconnect and see what insights may arise. You might be surprised by what you learn!
